A child has plunged from a height in east London, prompting fears for its life.
The incident happened around 2.30pm today on Church Elm Lane, metres away from Dagenham Headway Tube station.
Emergency services were deployed to the scene, including a helicopter that landed at Old Dagenham Park, following the fall.
Church Elm Lane was shut off from the Tasty kebab shop to Church Elm Lane Health Centre as a result.
The child was treated at the scene before being rushed to a major trauma centre.
At this stage, the condition of the victim is not known.
Most properties along Church Elm Lane average at two to three floors, but there are several with seven floors or more.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed the incident, adding in a statement: ‘We were called at 2.31pm today to reports of a person fallen from height on Church Elm Lane, Dagenham.
‘We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a paramedic in a fast response car. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
‘Our first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes. We treated a child at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre by road.’
