Cohen takes 5A 3200 championship (8:56 a.m.): In the girls big-school 3200, Cherry Creek junior Emily Cohen won in 10:27.70. She edged out Fossil Ridge senior Tatum Berg, who clocked 10:27.85, in a dramatic finish. The Sabercats are in the team lead with 30 points, while Mountain Vista has 26 and Cherry Creek has 23. — Kyle Newman

Bens win boys 5A 3200 (8:49 a.m.): Mountain Vista finished one-two in the 3200, the first finals race of the day. Sophomore Benjamin Adams bested his senior teammate Benjamin Anderson, 9:07:93 to 9:08.60. And to keep the trend consistent, another Benjamin finished third in the race: Heritage senior Benjamin Wolff, who came in at 9:14.94. Mountain Vista, the favorite coming into the meet, is currently in the lead for the team title by six points over Northfield. — Kyle Newman

Back at it (8 a.m.): We’re back for more at Jeffco Stadium. There’s all sorts of storylines hanging out there today, including several showdowns in the distance races. The Class 5A girls and boys 3,200-meter runs help kick things off, with Florida commit Keeghan Edwards looking to claim a state title a year after a runner-up finish in the event. Denver East senior Rosie Mucharsky is chasing a three-peat in the 5A girls 800, while Niwot junior Rocco Culpepper will go for the first leg of his distance double in the 4A boys 800.
