A concealed carry holder shot a 17-year-old boy after finding him and another individual in his car early Monday in Roseland on the South Side.
The 58-year-old man heard a car alarm around 3:40 a.m. in the 9400 block of South Indiana Avenue and went outside to find two males he didn’t know inside his car with the driver side window broken, Chicago police said.
One of the people who allegedly broke in showed a firearm, causing the 58-year-old to open fire, striking a 17-year-old boy in the right forearm and left knee, police said.
The teen was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was in fair condition, officials said. The other alleged burglar fled east and got into a gray minivan.
The 58-year-old man has a valid firearm owner identification card and concealed carry license, authorities said.
Area 2 detectives were investigating.
