Cop shared graphic updates on Nottingham attacks and said victims were ‘proper butchered’

A COP shared graphic updates on the Nottingham attacks in a chat, saying the victims were “proper butchered”.

The unnamed officer also told the WhatsApp group Grace O’Malley-Kumar and Barnaby Webber, both 19, had their “innards out”.

Barnaby Webber’s mum asked the unnamed cop to ‘dig deeper for compassion and care’ after sharing graphic descriptions of the Nottingham attacksPA

He called the knifing of Barnaby, Grace O’Malley-Kumar, pictured, and Ian Coates ‘big news’

The cop called their knifing and that of Ian Coates, 65, by paranoid schizophrenic Valdo Calocane last June “big news”.

He only got a “management warning”, it was said.

Barnaby’s mum Emma revealed the remarks after Nottinghamshire Chief Constable Kate Meynell allegedly refused to pass on a letter from her to the group.

In it, she said: “I know you are police officers, but you are also human beings, and very likely that a number of you are parents as well.

“When you say ‘a couple of students have been proper butchered’, did you stop to think about the absolute terror that they felt in the moment when they were ambushed and repeatedly stabbed by a man who had planned his attack and lay waiting in the shadows for them?

“When you say ‘innards out and everything’, did you think about the agony they felt and the final thoughts that went through their minds as this vicious individual inflicted wounds so serious that they had no chance of surviving?

To the message’s author, she added: “Dig a little deeper for compassion and care.”

The force said staff misconduct hearings were private.
