Cubs first baseman Michael Busch makes history with NLDS Game 3 home run

The Cubs’ Michael Busch made history in the first inning of Game 3 of the National League Division Series.

His 401-foot homer that tied the game 1-1 against the Brewers made him the first player to hit multiple leadoff homers in the same series in postseason history.

Busch, whose 34 homers led the team in 2024, has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise meager Cubs attack. The Cubs hadn’t scored more than three runs in the postseason before Wednesday.

The Cubs are in a win-or-go-home Game 3, trying to stave off elimination at the hands of their NL Central rivals.

There is a visible path for the Cubs, the same one 10 major league teams have successfully traversed after falling behind 0-2 in best-of-five series. That’s 10 out of 90, not much of a success rate, but who’s counting?
The Cubs beat the Brewers 4-3 on Wednesday to force a Game 4.
The Cubs claimed their first win of the series upon returning to Wrigley Field.
