Cupertino kicks off the holidays with Community Tree Lighting

Community Tree Lighting

Cupertino is holding its Community Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 5, 6-8 p.m. at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road. The tree lighting will be followed by photo opportunities with Santa, a snowball room, holiday movie watching  and kids activities.

Volunteer hopefuls

West Valley Community Services is looking for some volunteer elves to help with Gift of Hope, the Cupertino-based nonprofit’s annual event for low-income families who might not otherwise have the opportunity to gather for the holidays.

The holiday carnival is set for Dec. 6, 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at St Joseph’s, 10110 N. De Anza Blvd. The event features game booths, a food court, arts and crafts and a visit from Santa.

Volunteers are needed to help with setup and teardown, traffic flow and client assistance at each booth. Shift times vary. Register at https://bit.ly/4pagkNI.

For more information, contact Christopher Anderson, WVCS’s manager of volunteer services, at 408-255-8033, ext. 303, or volunteer@wvcommunityservices.org.
