Dad stabbed to death at a home ‘during burglary’ in Coventry

Anthony Priestley. A man has been charged with the murder of another man who was stabbed to death in Coventry. We arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of murder after we were called to an address in Aldrich Avene, on Tuesday (18 Nov) morning, where Anthony Priestley, 53, was found with serious injuries. Sadly, nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A ‘much-loved’ dad was stabbed to death as his home was burgled has been pictured.

Anthony Priestly was found dead after he was attacked on Aldrich Avenue, Coventry, on Tuesday.

Alexander Neilson, 28, has been charged with murder and aggravated burglary.

Anthony’s family paid tribute to him, saying: ‘Anton, we loved you so much and we cannot imagine that we’re never going to see you again.

‘Our love for you will never end.’

His daughter added: ‘Thanks for all the lovely memories I have of you. Your loving daughter.’

Tributes have poured in on social media, with friends describing him as ‘the funniest bloke they have ever met’.

Hannah Williams wrote: ‘You were one of a kind. Loyal funny and to caring for your own good. I will miss you and heaven has gained a beautiful angel in you.

‘Thinking of your family and I will forever miss you and think of you. No one deserves this especially you.’

West Midlands Police said: ‘His family is being supported by our specialist officers, and our thoughts are with them.

‘They remained at the scene to carry out enquiries on the evening he died, but were not looking for anyone else as part of the investigation.

‘Anyone with information into the incident or with dash cam footage or other footage from the area at the time has been asked to call 101 quoting log 418 of 18 November.’
