A 27-year-old man suspected of taking a cat from a driveway in Lawndale and repeatedly striking it against a sidewalk until it was dead is being held without bail.
The crime occurred around 3:10 p.m. Friday, April 5, on the 4900 block of Marine Avenue, near Inglewood Avenue and the border with Redondo Beach, according to Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Rogelio Diaz was located and arrested Thursday on suspicion of torturing and killing a live animal and booked without bail. He was scheduled to appear at the Torrance Courthouse on Monday for arraignment.
Based on the nature of the crime and additional evidence, detectives believe there may be additional victims, authorities said.
