Deputy shot, injured on motorcycle in West Covina

A search for a shooter was underway after a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department motorcycle deputy was shot near the 10 Freeway in West Covina on Monday, April 22, authorities said.

Around 2:45 p.m., the deputy was in the area near Barranca and Garvey avenues, near the freeway on-ramp, when he was shot, said LASD spokesperson Nichole Nishida. He was taken to a hospital and was reported to be stable.

Information on the suspect, or whether or not the deputy was on duty, was not immediately available.

Authorities were searching the area Monday afternoon for the suspect, Nishida said.
