Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson’s adaptation of the Chekhov play will be co-produced by the Shakespeare Theatre Company and Berkeley Rep, with STC artistic director Simon Godwin directing the production. The play will be performed from Feb. 14 to March 23, 2025, at the Rep’s Peet’s Theatre.

This is the first of seven play titles the company has announced for its 2024-25 season. Single tickets will go on sale in the fall.

McPherson’s “Vanya” took the stage at London’s Harold Pinter Theatre in 2020, but the pandemic interrupted the run. The play was recorded for later release in theaters and on the BBC.

For his turn as Lord Grantham, Bonneville received three Screen Actors Guild awards, an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nominations. His film credit include “Notting Hill,” George Clooney’s “The Monuments Men” and the “Paddington” films.
