Downtown Disney brings back free Halloween movie nights
Downtown Disney will bring back a free film festival this fall featuring eight family-friendly Halloween-themed movies at the outdoor shopping mall in Anaheim next to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Downtown Disney will host the free series of Halloween movies on Wednesday nights from Sept. 9 through Oct. 28.

The free movies will be screened on Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30 and Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at the Downtown Disney Live stage between the Din Tai Fung restaurant and Parkside Market food hall.
Halloween-themed food will be served during the free movie nights.

Disneyland has not yet announced what time the movies will play each night, but last year’s inaugural event started the free films at 7 p.m.
Last year’s Halloween-themed film lineup included “Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Frankenweenie,” “Halloweentown,” “Hocus Pocus,” “Hocus Pocus 2” and the 2023 version of “Haunted Mansion.”

Disneyland has not yet announced the lineup for the 2026 fall film festival — which will be revealed on the official Downtown Disney Instagram feed.
A few additional possibilities for 2026 could include “Coco,” “Twitches” and “Zombies” if Disneyland avoids repeats from 2025.
The movie lineup could also feature “Maleficent,” “Cruella” and “Descendants” if Disneyland decides to lean into the villain theme.
Disney owns the 20th Century Fox catalog that includes “Poltergeist” (PG rated), “Edward Scissorhands” (PG-13 rated) and “Rocky Horror Picture Show” (R rated) — but those movies seem less likely to be featured in a family-friendly Disney film fest.
