One person died and another was hospitalized after a driver crashed into a group of pedestrians in Aurora Sunday night.
The crash happened at about 9:40 p.m. Three adult males were walking southbound along the shoulder of North Himalaya Road, north of East 64th Avenue, when a woman driving a Mazda sedan drove into them from behind, according to Aurora police.
Two of the pedestrians were hit and taken to the hospital. One later died from his injuries. The second remains hospitalized due to their injuries. The third pedestrian was not hit.
The driver and the third pedestrian remained on scene to cooperate with investigators. Police do not see alcohol as a factor. Investigators are working to reconstruct the crash to determine if any aggravating factors will lead to charges against the driver. No one has been taken into custody due to the crash, according to police.
This is the 18th traffic-related death in Aurora this year.
