East Bay pets of the week for Oct. 10

Aloha, I’m Kainoa! I’m a small dog with a big heart, ready to share my love! Fresh from the Big Island, I can’t wait to explore Bay Area parks, sniff out new adventures, plus enjoy playtime with kongs and toys. Best of all, I love tropical-style snuggles after the fun. I’d make an engaging addition to any canine-loving home! Visit the website of the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society at berkeleyhumane.org to learn more and schedule a meeting with me.

Miss Abigail is just waiting to meet you and herd you into her corner! While this petite, spotted lady is compact in size, she makes up for it in her capacity to keep up and her desire to share in whatever activity or snack you are participating in. Do you like to run in the mornings and then go get a little sweet treat? Abigail is ready to tag along. While at the shelter she has done well with well-matched dogs after a slow intro — and where Abigail truly shines is in the water, or with a game of fetch! If you are looking for a pocket-sized adventure pal, meet this sweet 2-year-old in Dublin. The East Bay SPCA offers walk-in adoptions at its Oakland and Dublin campuses from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For updated and real-time information on programs and offerings, visit eastbayspca.org/adoptions.

Ghost is a magnificent 10-year-old fluff-ball that fully expects a five-star retirement package, including a comfy bed, at least one human to love, not to mention an endless supply of affection. He’s a gentle, low-key superstar who tolerates other animals and humans, provided they respect his chill time. Ghost is officially retired from high energy activities, preferring to simply drift through the day at a majestic pace. You can make his acquaintance at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter in 1590 Fortmann Way during open hours, or feel free to call 510-337-8565 or visit alamedaanimalshelter.org/adopt.

Looking for a little lovebug to brighten your life? Meet Freckles. With his round face and petite size, he’ll likely stay a “forever kitten.” Friendly, outgoing and full of cuteness, he adores people and loves to be near you — whether playing, snuggling, or keeping you company during Zoom calls. Freckles is basically the perfect cat. To meek Freckles, contact Lori at Whisker2love@gmail.com or 209-996-8870. Meet Sterling! A sweet little man who loves to please everyone! He’s dog-friendly, family-friendly and loves children. He’s crate trained, very smart and ready to continue his education. Sterling’s got silly-puppy energy and loves to play. But kisses and snuggles are high on his list, too. Contact the staff at Milo Point Richmond for assistance from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Tuesdays at 220 S. Garrard Blvd. in Richmond.
