Easter love for animals on Sunday at Love Always Sanctuary

Love Always Sanctuary held an Easter Eggstravaganza event on Sunday that included an egg hunt, an Easter Bunny and visiting the sanctuary’s rescued farm animals.

The egg hunt, for ages 12 and younger, was a draw for savvy parents in the know about the sanctuary. For others, who came across the event’s flyer on Easter egg hunts for children websites, the fifth annual event served as an introduction to the nonprofit’s mission.

Attendees had to make a reservation in advance on Eventbrite to the event that also included music, artisan and vegan food vendors. No walk-ups were allowed.

Nickie Mingarelli, founder of nonprofit Love Always Sanctuary, started the farm animal rescue at a property in Pacoima. However, with a growing eclectic group of farm animals, she was able to find a location in Sun Valley. There were more than 105 rescued farm animals at the current location in January.

The sanctuary offers a private tour, a dinner tour, and welcomes sponsors and volunteers (lovealwayssanctuary.org/volunteer). There are no regular business hours at the sanctuary. All visits must be pre-scheduled. In the meantime, check out the “Virtual Barn” section on the website to see information and photos of donkeys, ducks, goats, pigs and sheep that have been rescued.
