Families enjoy a ride on the Holiday Light Festival Train in Griffith Park

The popular miniature train in Griffith Park was filled with passengers enjoying the popular tour of holiday lights. The Griffith Park Holiday Light Festival Train has been drawing in families for decades, taking visitors on a mile-long ride past scenes made of thousands of lights.

The Griffith Park & Southern Railroad trains are 1/4th and 1/3rd scale models of actual locomotives and passenger cars that carry nearly 500,000 passengers every year.

The track travels over several bridges, including a 60-foot-long wood and steel box girder bridge. Passengers pass characters including gingerbread cookies standing in the front of their gingerbread home, and a giant Santa Claus holding a present with a red bow.

The rides begin at 5 pm daily for $8, and babies 18 months and younger go for free. The event will run through January 11.
