The Fire terminated the contract of midfielder Gaston Gimenez, opening a Designated Player spot on their roster.
Gimenez, 33, spent five seasons with the Fire, notching four goals and 11 assists in 134 matches (112 starts). He wore the captain’s armband for 15 games, including two Leagues Cup matches.
The Argentina native is believed to be returning to South America to play in Paraguay.
