NEW YORK – A night after forecasted rain washed away the scheduled opener of a four-game series between the Cubs and Mets, rain again made an impact Tuesday night.
First pitch was delayed 10 minutes by rain, with a 6:20 p.m. Central start time announced less than an hour before the scheduled 6:10 p.m. Central contest.
The Cubs experienced back-to-back rainouts in two different time zones, with Monday’s postponement following the rescheduling of Sunday’s scheduled game against the Blue Jays at Wrigley Field.
Cubs skipper Craig Counsell was none too pleased with Monday’s decision a day later, saying Tuesday, “Frankly, yesterday’s game did not need to be rained out. It didn’t rain. And for some reason, we didn’t play.”
That rainout forced a doubleheader Wednesday at Citi Field.
