The Des Plaines and Fox rivers remain under a flood warning Sunday morning after a week of rain pummeled the Chicago area and caused major flooding.
The flood zone for the Des Plaines River runs from Roosevelt Road in Forest Park downstream to Hodgkins, including the Riverside gauge, according to the weather service. Fox River is cresting at over 11 feet and causing flooding in Kane and McHenry counties.
A freeze warning was also issued for Sunday night into early Monday for the Chicago area.
There is a slight chance for rain Sunday, the weather service reports, but there is currently no rain forecast for the coming week. Temperatures are also expected to warm up starting Tuesday at a high of 72.
Last week’s record-breaking rain caused serious flooding in Chicago and the suburbs.
