Former US President Bill Clinton, 78, has been hospitalized with a fever.

‘President Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center this afternoon for testing and observation after developing a fever,’ wrote his deputy chief of staff Angel Ureña on X (formerly Twitter) at 5.40pm ET on Monday.

‘He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving.’

Ureña told CNN that ‘the president is fine’ and hopes to be discharged from the hospital by Christmas.

America’s 42nd president, a Democrat, campaigned for his party’s 2024 presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, for a few weeks in the fall.

Clinton has experienced some health issues after leaving the White House in 2001.

In 2004, Clinton had quadruple bypass heart surgery and in 2010 received two stents to open an artery.

He was hospitalized in California in 2021 for a urinary tract infection that entered his bloodstream.

Clinton lost some weight and appeared to be healthier after switching to a diet that was mostly vegan.

He served two presidential terms from January 1993 to January 2001.

On November 19, Clinton released his latest book, Citizen: My Life After the White House, which became a New York Times bestseller.

‘Citizen is a self-portrait of equal parts eloquence, insight, and candor, a testament to one man’s unwavering commitment to family and nation,’ states the book’s Amazon page.
