U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA), who is running for re-election against Trump-endorsed U.S. Representative Mike Collins (R-GA), spoke with MS NOW from Georgia while early voting began in the Peach State on Tuesday — after the candidates’ second and final debate.
Ossoff, who has called Collins a “Trump puppet,” reiterated his criticism of the Trump administration, saying: “The Trump presidency has failed. Donald Trump has cemented his legacy in American history as a failure and a disgrace. J.D. Vance will go down as a footnote in that disgrace. And right now, the moment is at hand for the American people to use the power that we have as citizens to rebuke these abuses so decisively that no president will dare anything like this again for centuries.”
Fox News star Jessica Tarlov responded to Ossoff’s comments, writing on social media: “Jon Ossoff has the unique ability to hammer Trump and in the same breath crush JD Vance’s future Presidential arguments. Incredible.”
[NOTE: In August 2025, when Vance promoted the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) as a “tax cut for families” in Georgia, Ossoff responded: “I think it is embarrassing for the Vice President to be coming to Georgia to sell a policy that is already resulting in harm to hospitals in the state of Georgia, that’s projected to throw more than 100,000 people off of health care in the state of Georgia.”]
Both Vance and Ossoff are often asked if they are considering a presidential run in 2028. Vance said he’ll announce his plans after the 2026 midterm elections. Ossoff has said that, if re-elected, he’s committed to serving a full, six-year Senate term. He added, “I have zero interest in running for president. I’m not running for president. I’m running for re-election to the Senate.”
