Go & Show has plenty of going and showing

Surprisingly full Go & Show this week.

Jeff Nolan and I will be doing a hands-on presentation on “Fishing the Chicago River: History, perspective, spots, techniques” from 6-7:30 tonight, Sept. 5, for Urban Rivers at the Wild Mile. That’s around 905 W. Eastman and the North Branch. Jeff and I will be doing some background of fishing the river, then more specifically spots and hands-on from the basics, which I will do, to some very interesting innovations that Jeff does. There will be a jobs fair, “Trees and Tacos Arboricultural Career Fair,” at Thatcher Woods in River Forest from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. There will options for work in the field and free tacos to first 100 participants.
Salmon Unlimited holds its annual Kids’ Derby from 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 7, at Waukegan Harbor. It’s free with lunch and prizes and is open to those 18 and younger. More information is at https://www.salmonunlimitedinc.com/kids.
The Illinois Smallmouth Alliance holds its “Cast & Compare,” an opportunity to try and compare fly rods with Doug Taylor, Sage elite pro staff, Jeremy Spaccapaniccia of DuPage Fly Fishing and ISA’s John Loebach, 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 7, at Glenwood Forest Preserve, 1644 S.
