The family of Daniel Anjorin, 14, has paid tribute to their ‘amazing son’ after he died in a sword attack in Hainault.

His family issued a statement after the shocking attack on Tuesday morning near Hainault Tube station in northeast London.

The teenager was killed after a man crashed his van and then stabbed five people in an untargeted attack.

Daniel’s family said: ‘We as a family are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Daniel.

‘It is difficult for us at this time to process what has happened to him and that he will never come home. Daniel had left the house for school and then he was gone.

‘Our children have lost their loving and precious brother and we have lost the most loved and amazing son.

‘We would like to send our best wishes to the other victims of this unthinkable incident.

‘We would also like to thank the local community for all of their support during this most difficult time.

‘We ask that the media please respect our privacy and refrain from contacting us or our family.’

Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, 36, has now been charged with the murder of Daniel Anjorin after he appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The 14-year-old was a pupil at a private school Bancroft’s in Woodford Green.

It is the same school in east London attended by Grace O’Malley-Kumar, a medical student who was murdered in a knife attack in Nottingham last summer.

Tributes have poured in for Daniel alongside his family, including from Gorillaz drummer Femi Koleoso as the teenager was part of the musician’s youth group.

Arsenal paid an emotional tribute to Daniel ahead of kick-off on Saturday against AFC Bournemouth.

Daniel was a huge football fan and he admired Arsenal star Bukayo Saka in particular.
