A suspected serial killer laced her victim’s stew after being hired by his daughter.

Michele Paiva da Silva allegedly paid her friend Ana Paula Veloso to kill her father, 65-year-old Neil Correa da Silva.

Veloso reportedly laced feijoada – a traditional Brazilian stew made with beans and meat – with rat poison. Her victim died hours after eating the stew at his home in Duque de Caxias, Brazil, on April 26.

Both women are currently under arrest, and messages exchanged between Veloso and the daughter reportedly discussed poisoning Neil.

During the search of Veloso’s home, officers found terbufos, an illegal poison typically used to kill rats.

Police said she confessed to killing 10 dogs to test timing and dosage of the substance, to try and make the death seem natural.

Neil’s body was exhumed on October 9 to test for poisoning after investigators linked Veloso to three other suspected poisonings.

Veloso came to the attention of police after she allegedly poisoned a cake and attempted to blame someone else.

Police Chief Halisson Ideiao said: ‘Ana Paula Veloso came to our station because of an alleged poisoned cake inside a university.

‘She planted this supposed poisoned cake to try to incriminate a third person.

‘Through this investigation, we concluded that Ana Paula was not a victim in that case, but rather a potential serial killer.’

Veloso’s twin sister Roberta has also been arrested on suspicion of ‘giving moral and material support’ in Neil’s death.

The investigation continues.
