Homer Glen neighborhood ordered to shelter in place due to barricaded home invasion suspect

A shelter in place order was in effect for a Homer Glen neighborhood Tuesday evening after a home invasion suspect barricaded themselves, according to Darien police.

Officers were still “working to take the suspect into custody” at 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Darien police. Residents on the street were ordered to shelter in place, and Maverick Trail was closed at Woodland and Parker, the Will County Sheriff’s office said on social media.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Sequoia Drive shortly after 2 p.m. for a report of a home invasion and saw a suspect flee in a vehicle, police said. They chased him to the Bell Road and 143rd Street in Homer Glen, where he barricaded himself into a residence.

One victim was hospitalized with “non-life threatening injuries” and has since been released, police said.
