Around 150 firefighters are tackling a huge warehouse fire in Southhall which has caused smoke to fill London’s skyline.

The blaze broke out in a two storey warehouse and retail space in Southall in Ealing.

Locals phoned the fire brigade over 50 times as fire ripped through three-quarters of the building.

Smoke billowing out from the blaze can be seen across the capital, with residents spotting the black fumes from Merton in south London – which is approximately 17 miles from Southall.

London Fire Brigade @LondonFire ? 46m Firefighters are working hard to bring the fire in Southall under control. Control Officers have taken over 50 calls reporting the fire, with the smoke plume visible across West London.

Crews from Southall, Heston, Ealing and surrounding fire stations are at the scene and have deployed turntable ladders to tackle the inferno.

Locals have been told to keep doors and windows closed to avoid inhaling the plume of smoke flooding the area.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
