Kari Lake Supporters Fear Trump “Trying to Get Rid of You” with Jamaica Nomination

Kari Lake

President Trump nominated his senior advisor to the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), Kari Lake, to become the next U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica.

As seen below, Lake thanked Trump for the nomination and wrote: “Jamaica is a country I know very well, full of incredible people, and if confirmed by the Senate, I look forward to strengthening the partnership between our nations, advancing America’s interests abroad, and building on the deep friendship shared by the American and Jamaican people.”

[NOTE: Lake did not elaborate on how she knows the country “very well,” though it is likely through her travel and work experience, as Jamaica natives represent only about 0.11 percent of the population in her home state of Arizona, according to World Population Review.]

Among the Lake supporters who congratulated the former GOP Arizona senatorial and gubernatorial candidate on the nomination were many who also voiced disappointment. As one replied, “Huge supporter Kari but Ambassador to Jamaica? It’s almost like they’re trying to get rid of you. This is very disappointing knowing what you could be doing at the Federal level.”

Another wrote: “Congrats to you Kari, but I feel your incredible talents and drive could be of better use in other departments.”

[NOTE: In March 2025, Jamaican authorities found and seized $3.1 billion worth of cocaine in a shipping container at the Kingston seaport. The drug bust coincided with a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In February 2026, Rubio met Caribbean leaders including Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who has urged “constructive dialogue between Cuba and the United States aimed at de-escalation, reform and stability.”]
