Chicago police have learned that a sexual assault reported by a woman in Lake View Sunday night was unfounded.
It was not clear why the attack wasn’t bonafide or if any citations would be filed.
Earlier, police said officers were responding to a well-being check spoke with the victim, who said she was sitting in an alley in the 3800 block of North Wilton Avenue when two men and two women approached her and sexually assaulted her about 10:45 p.m., police said.
The woman was taken to Throrek Memorial Hospital.
The attackers sped away in a vehicle after the assault and were not in custody Monday morning.
Several hours earlier, the Pride Parade stepped off at Sheridan Road and Broadway, not far from where the woman was assaulted.
