A young Latin-music singer, who just released a single in August, was fatally shot in what appears to have been an ambush, authorities said Monday.
Maria De La Rosa, 22, who reportedly performs as Delarosa, was one of three victims sitting in a car that was attacked early Saturday in San Fernando Valley.
“Multiple rounds were fired at several victims who were parked in the area in their vehicle,” the Los Angeles Police Department said.
De La Rosa died of her wounds at a hospital. She was reportedly taken there by a private party. Los Angeles station KTLA reported two other victims were in critical condition.
The motive for the attack isn’t known. Police said witnesses saw two male suspects approach the car before opening fire around 1:30 a.m. in the Northridge neighborhood.
The victim released the single “No Me Llames” in August. Photos posted to Instagram showed her with a guitar, and promised more new music was in the works.
De La Rosa’s most recent message said in Spanish that she was “busy cooking” in the recording studio and it’s “about that time.”
