Lights on Display is a 15-minute spectacular featuring animatronics in Sherman Oaks
Lights on Display is a 15-minute outdoor spectacular, featuring custom-built animatronics, and holiday characters including Santa Claus, created each year by Mike Ziemkowski outside of his home in Sherman Oaks. Ziemkowski isn’t just having fun, he also asks for donations from visitors on behalf of the American Lung Association.
In a statement, Ziemkowski said, “So why do I have this crazy obsession with decorating and Christmas? Each year as I stand in the front yard and watch the display, a flood of wonderful childhood memories of Christmases past resurface. My parents always made the holidays so special and I love to be able to share a little bit of the magic they instilled in me.”
He grew up in Saint John Indiana, where his parents turned their house into a Christmas event. His mother handled the decorations in the house, and his father filled the yard with handmade items. His dad “created motorized displays of the Little Drummer Boy, Santa playing a pipe organ, and a workshop staffed by Santa and his elves.”
Lights on Display runs continuously 6-9 pm Wednesday – Sunday, through New Year’s Day.
