MAGA Pulling Donations from RNC, “You Blew a Big Opportunity!”

President Donald Trump

Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Joe Gruters announced Thursday on social media, “The RNC is already building the ground game to win the midterms. We’re aggressively investing in battleground states, targeting the voters who delivered President Trump’s victory, and making sure Republicans are positioned to win in November.”

Gruters’ announcement is being hit with a large wave of negative feedback from members of the MAGA movement who claim the RNC has “wasted too much money on RINOs,” and “hasn’t done enough to pass the SAVE Act.”

As MAGA influencer Cheryl Anne replied: “Could you please STOP sending money to campaigns for incumbents Cornyn, Cassidy, and Capito??? We want them replaced with Conservatives and we are not going to keep donating to the @Republicans.”

[NOTE: Republican Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) is running for re-election against Attorney General Ken Paxton, neither of whom won the endorsement of President Trump. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who voted in 2021 to convict Trump of inciting the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and is being blamed for the withdrawal of Trump’s nomination for surgeon general (Casey Means), is also running without the President’s endorsement. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) did receive Trump’s endorsement.]

Another MAGA supporter replied: “My husband and I no longer contribute to the @RNC, @SenateGOP, @HouseGOP, @WinRed, Our support goes directly to GOP candidates that support Trump. You blew a big opportunity!”

And another wrote: “RNC leadership is corrupt. You waste $ of loser RINOS like Cornyn, waste $ fighting conservative Republicans like Ken Paxton. You were MIA in Virginia for the redistricting, and you have no ground game.”

[Note: Trump endorsed Gruters to become RNC chair in July 2025, after Michael Whatley announced he would run in the 2026 U.S. Senate election in North Carolina. Whatley won the GOP primary and faces former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper in the general election in November. The latest polls, including one conducted by Opinion Diagnostics, have Cooper winning the race by 9 points.]
