Commuters face havoc on trains from London Paddington this morning, with disruption set to last through peak rush hour.
The Elizabeth line, Great Western Railway and Heathrow Express have been hit by major disruption today, with part of the Lizzie line suspended.
Some lines are blocked because of overrunning engineering works, which is set to cause cancellations and schedule changes at least until 10am.
The Elizabeth line is part suspended in both directions between Paddington, Heathrow Terminals T4 and T5, and Reading, the latest TfL status update shows.
There are also minor delays between Paddington and Abbey Wood.
Meanwhile, Great Western Railway trains to and from Paddington are disrupted, and Heathrow Express services are too.
National Rail said: ‘Overrunning engineering works between London Paddington and Heathrow Terminals / Reading mean that some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised.’
Frustrated passengers didn’t mince their words after being caught out in the delays.
One person said: ‘£30 for a cab to work. Elizabeth line is killing it this morning. All cancelled.’
Another woman, apparently delayed from going to the London Film Festival, shared her disappointment: ‘Elizabeth line has screwed me i will not be making it to watch Elsinore this morning at lff.’
Metro has contacted Network Rail for a comment.
It is worth keeping hold of your ticket and making a note of the delay time as you might be entitled to delay repay.
Compensation and delay repay is usually claimed directly through the train company, and National Rail has a handy list of them all here.
