Man, 43, charged with rape of another man in seaside city centre

A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the rape of another man in a seaside city centre.

Michael Fry has also been charged with a string of other offences alleged to have taken place between April 2 and April 5.

He will appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today charged with two counts of rape of a man, causing a male aged 13 or over to engage in penetrative sexual activity and causing grievous bodily harm.

Fry is also charged with administering a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower to allow sexual activity, possession of a class C drug, blackmail, voyeurism and threatening to share a photograph or film of a person in an intimate setting.

Sussex Police confirmed the alleged offences are said to have taken place at Fry’s address in New England Street, Brighton, between April 2 and April 5.

The victim is an adult man who cannot be identified for legal reasons, cops say.

He made a report to Sussex Police on April 5 and is receiving support from specially-trained officers.

Detective Chief Superintendent Richard McDonagh said: “This is a complex and wide-ranging investigation, and we are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who may hold vital information.
