A man died after coming in contact with the electrified third rail on the Blue Line tracks early Thursday in the O’Hare neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
The 67-year-old man was found unresponsive on the tracks around 3 a.m. in the 5800 block of North Cumberland, near the Cumberland CTA stop along the highway, Chicago police said.
He was pronounced dead on the way to Resurrection Medical Center, police said. An autopsy is scheduled, according to the Cook County medial examiner’s office.
The situation caused delays at Cumberland due to a “medical emergency,” a CTA alert said.
Area 3 detectives were conducting a death investigation.
