A man was charged with assaulting two Chicago Police officers Thursday while armed with a gun.
McKale Mitchell, 35, assaulted the officers just before 1:45 p.m. Thursday in the 0-100 block of West 111th Place, police said.
Officers ordered Mitchell several times to drop his weapon, but he refused, according to police. One officer then fired their gun, striking Mitchell in the leg.
Mitchell was arrested minutes later and charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer, two felony counts of unlawful possession of a gun and one ordinance violation, police said.
Mitchell was due in court Saturday.
