A man was arrested and charged with punching a fan at Monday night’s Crosstown Classic game at Wrigley Field, where the Cubs beat the White Sox 7-5 in extra innings.
The fight, which Chicago police say is not connected to an eighth-inning brawl in the stands captured in a widely shared video, happened outside a restroom as the game was wrapping up, according to court records.
The 26-year-old victim told police that a man “sucker punched” him with his right fist, causing his nose to bleed, according to a police report.
Police arrested David Cregan, 41, of the Archer Heights neighborhood, around 10:43 p.m. and charged him with felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor battery, according to the report.
Police also reported two other arrests that night, both tied to trespassing — but no charges tied to the brawl in the stands.
The Cook County state’s attorney’s office did not immediately say whether it had reviewed charges related to the brawl.
After the game, the Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong told reporters that the fight in the stands was “unfortunate and somewhat nauseating.”
