A man died after he was apparently electrocuted on the CTA Red Line Monday morning in the Loop.
The unidentified man was on the train platform at a Red Line station in the 100 block of North State Street at 4:45 a.m. when he made contact with the electrified third rail, Chicago police said.
He was dead at the scene, police said. An autopsy was scheduled, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Red Line service was bypassing the Lake station due to the incident, CTA said.
Authorities were conducting a death investigation.
