Man injured in police shooting after fight at Northridge home

A man was hospitalized after he was shot by at least one officer following a disturbance at a home in Northridge early Sunday morning, Nov. 2, authorities said.

Los Angeles police were called to a home in the 8900 block of Balcom Avenue around 2 a.m. on a report of a fight and encountered a man, believed to be in his 30s, allegedly armed with a gun on the driveway, leading to at least one officer firing at him, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Officer Norma Eisenman said.

The man was struck by gunfire and was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery, Eisenman said.

A firearm was found at the scene, Eisenman said.

Whether the suspect lived at the home was not known, Eisenman said. His relationship, if any, to the other residents was also not yet known.

No other injuries were reported.
