Man killed in block party shooting in Compton

A man was shot to death early Sunday, July 5, during a large block party in Compton, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at about 12:10 a.m. in the 2100 block of North Grandee Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The LASD said there was no indication the shooting was connected to another fatal shooting in Compton amid July 4 celebrations. A woman and a man were shot and killed during a large Fourth of July party late Saturday at an apartment building in the 700 block of West Laurel Street, where three other people were also wounded, sheriff’s officials said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was encouraged to contact the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Callers who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
