HAWTHORNE — An investigation was underway Saturday into the shooting death of a man in Hawthorne.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting was reported at 3:18 a.m. Friday at West 118th Street and Prairie Avenue. LASD homicide detectives were assisting Hawthorne police with the investigation.
The victim, 32-year-old Armando Lara, died at the scene of a gunshot wound of the chest from a homicide, said the Medical Examiner’s office. Lara’s city of residence was not disclosed.
There was no suspect information immediately available.
OnScene.TV, a freelance video news agency, reported the victim was found shot outside the front entrance of a liquor store.
This was the third reported fatal shooting in Hawthorne in a week.
