A man was fatally shot in Woodlawn Monday night, according to Chicago police.
The man, 56, was sitting in the front room of a residence in the 6600 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue about 8:01 p.m. when someone fired shots from the sidewalk, police said. He was shot in the chest and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where he later died.
No one is in custody.
