CTA Blue Line service returned to normal after enduring significant delays when a man set himself on fire Friday morning near the Damen stop in the Wicker Park neighborhood.
Firefighters responded to the Damen elevated station, 1558 N. Damen Ave., around 6:10 a.m. for a man who set himself on fire, Chicago Fire Department officials said.
The man, whose age wasn’t immediately known, suffered second degree burns and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was in critical condition, fire officials said.
It wasn’t immediately known whether the incident happened on or near the platform.
All trains were being boarded on the O’Hare-bound side between Western and Damen, CTA said in an alert.
CTA officials have not yet commented on the incident.
