Man shot in Albany Park

An 18-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Thursday evening in Albany Park.

The man was near the sidewalk in the 3300 block of West Ainslie Street when someone fired shots around 5:55 p.m., Chicago police said.

He was struck in the torso and taken in fair condition to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, police said.

No arrests were made.

A window installer was working on Kimball Avenue when he heard gunshots and saw a man running westbound on Ainslie Street before collapsing at the intersection.

“We were installing windows and then you hear 12 shots and people hiding and a guy running out and just laying on the ground,” the man, who asked not to be named, said, adding that it all happened “quick.”

“And you could see that the bullet went straight through and people [were] just putting pressure on [his wound],” he added.

The installer ran into the house he was working on and called 911. He said around five people were outside rushing to the victim, then a crowd of about 30 gathered.
