A Thursday autopsy determined a 25-year-old man who was shot Tuesday afternoon near Jackson Park died of a gunshot wound to his torso, officials said.
The unidentified man was on a playground at 2016 E. 67th St. about 3:15 p.m. when an assailant approached and opened fire, hitting him in his abdomen area, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The unidentified man was taken initially in serious condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.
An autopsy Thursday determined he died of a gunshot wound to his torso and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Area 1 detectives are investigating.
