A man was shot and killed after a fight broke out at a Lincoln Park bar Sunday night.
The 30-year-old man was in a fight around 11:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue when he was shot multiple times, Chicago police said.
He was taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he died, police said.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, officials said. A person of interest was taken into custody and charges were pending.
In a newsletter, local 43rd Ward Ald. Timmy Knudsen renewed calls for restrictions on late-night bars on the stretch of Lincoln Avenue where the shooting happened.
“I am hopeful and confident that the Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection will view this homicide as sufficient evidence of the need to support specific restrictions on this stretch,” Knudsen wrote. “Regularly, I speak to business owners on this stretch who agree that additional restrictions will benefit a corridor that has been refreshed with many great new storefronts.”
Knudsen said there will be extra patrols on the block where the shooting occurred and permanent patrol on weekends.
“Our office stands with [law enforcement officials] to ensure they have the resources they need to charge the offender and tools to ensure it does not happen again.”
