The Dodgers have agreed on a one-year contract with Miguel Rojas that will allow the veteran infielder to finish his career with the team.
The deal is reportedly for a $5.5 million salary in 2026. The 36-year-old Rojas has said he plans to retire after next season and he wanted to finish with the Dodgers.
Rojas made his major-league debut with the Dodgers in 2014 then was traded to the Miami Marlins in 2015. He spent the next eight seasons with the Marlins before rejoining the Dodgers in a January 2023 trade for infielder Jacob Amaya.
Rojas spent the past three seasons as a key piece of the Dodgers’ bench and a clubhouse leader. An adept defender, he has filled in at second base, shortstop and third base and mentored Mookie Betts in his transition to full-time shortstop.
Rojas’ offensive contributions have been middling. He had a .259 batting average and a .685 OPS over the past three seasons. But he came through with one of the most important home runs in Dodgers history when he tied Game 7 of the 2025 World Series with a ninth-inning home run. It was the first game-tying home run hit in the ninth inning of a World Series game.
