Moment jealous killer plots murder of ex’s new lover before knifing him to death in her bed – as he’s jailed for life

THIS is the chilling moment a jealous killer plots the murder of his ex’s new lover before knifing him to death in her bed.

Kaydon Prior, 23, shouted “I love you” at ex-girlfriend Alicia Parrin while stabbing Harrison Tomkins with a 16cm-long hunting blade.

He also punched Alicia Parrin and threatened to stab her

The killer had ripped back Alicia’s bedsheets to launch into the gruesome attack after spotting the pair on a night out together.

Prior and his friend Jason Curtis were captured on CCTV hatching the slaughter together.

The pair were today jailed for a total of 50 years after being convicted of murder.

In a harrowing victim impact statement, Alicia counted out how many times her partner was knifed.

She said: “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

“That’s how many times he put the knife in Harrison.”

Chichester Crown Court was told Prior had refused to accept his relationship with Alicia had ended.

His jealousy turned deadly on August 13 last year when he saw his ex and Harrison, 25, enjoying a night out in London together.

Prior messaged her: “Letting guys kiss you and that…that’s absolutely wrong…I can literally see you.”

After plotting the deadly attack, Curtis kept lookout as Prior returned home to grab housekeys for Alicia’s flat and a knife.

He then burst into Alicia’s bedroom in Crawley and pinned defenceless Harrison down before knifing him ten times.

Before leaving, Prior punched his ex and told her: “I should stab you too”.

When confronted by Alicia’s neighbours, the killer tried to pass off her screams as “good sex”.

When he was arrested, bodycam footage showed Curtis hiding in a bush.

He asked officers: “Who’s been murdered? I’ve been on a night out as it’s my birthday.”

He later claimed he acted in self-defence after Harrison began punching him.

The killer said both men were reaching for the knife, adding: “I was just trying to get out of there, I was panicking… I couldn’t get him off me.”

Harrison’s devastated family pay tribute

Harrison’s family said: “As a family, we are pleased with this result and feel justice has been served.

“Harrison hasn’t got a voice today, so we will speak on behalf of him.

“Firstly, we would like to thank Sussex Police and the Crown Prosecution Service for their fast-moving investigation, which has led to today’s result.

“Thank you also to our Family Liaison Officers, the ambulance service, the numerous witnesses and the jury for reaching their verdict today. And to all our family and friends who have supported us through such a horrific time.

“Harrison was innocent in all of this, taken by surprise and killed as he laid in bed, with no time to defend himself.

“We knew our son and he didn’t move in any of these circles or know this way of life.

“We were an amazing family, completely content, loving, supportive and protective. Except in August last year our family was destroyed that fateful day – the day I could not protect my son.

“Harrison, our first born son and brother to his two adoring sisters was just the greatest, he saw the best in everyone he met. He was a lover of life.

“Nothing said or done can help justify this senseless loss of life.

“Going through this trial has been as traumatic as the day we were told Harrison had been killed. We have had to relive it all over again, while listening to Prior and Curtis’ lies throughout.

“Since the omission of any remorse and that my son was murdered whilst asleep, my only hope is they serve the maximum sentence possible.

“They have not just changed my life for the worse, but so many people from my family and close friends, and I have to ask ‘was it worth it?’”

But jurors saw through his web of lies and he was convicted of murder, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.

Although Curtis did not inflict any of the fatal injuries, he was also found guilty after encouraging Prior.

Case Officer Detective Police Constable Elliott Lander, of the Major Crime Team, said: “I am pleased that we have been able to get the justice that Harrison richly deserves today.

“I never got to meet Harrison, but I have learned so much about him and have seen how greatly loved he was by all who knew him.

“Harrison was killed in a frenzied attack that he had no chance to defend himself from. Prior and Curtis will both rightly now have to live with the devastating consequences of their actions for a considerable period of their lives in prison.

“On behalf of Harrison and all his family and friends, I’d like to thank those who came forward and supported our investigation.”
