Jane said: ‘I’d soaked it in water and then it was a lovely day, and I thought I’d give it a final clean and that’s when it happened.

‘I put my head in and then the bin slid away and I fell inside it!

‘It was on its side, and I clambered out of it and knew that I’d done something quite dramatic.

‘It’s still very painful now.’

She said that she struggled to move in the days following the accident, adding: ‘I won’t be going near that wheelie bin again!’

People who have suffered shoulder fractures, also called humeral fractures, typically wear slings for several weeks.

They can cause soreness, limited mobility, muscle loss and a sore neck as other body parts work harder to compensate for the broken bones.
