The moped rider, who was wearing a helmet, was involved in a collision with a big rig truck, causing him to be ejected onto the roadway, the CHP said.

All four traffic lanes were initially shut down while the CHP investigated. Two were reopened by 9:30 a.m. It was not known when the other two lanes would reopen.
