More overnight military training exercises — this time in Long Beach, City of Industry
The U.S. military was conducting a training exercise in the Long Beach and City of Industry areas Thursday night into Friday morning — a day after similar exercises occurred in the Pasadena and Irvine areas.
Long Beach Police Department personnel were in the area Thursday night to assist with pedestrian and vehicle safety, police said.

Soldiers were seen training at the abandoned Golden Sails Hotel on the 6200 block of East Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.
The city of Long Beach does not have jurisdiction over operational details, police said.
This event, which was not open to the public or the media, was slated to conclude at 2 a.m. Friday.
During military exercises conducted from Wednesday night into Thursday morning at the former St. Luke Medical Center in northeast Pasadena, residents were awakened by the sounds of gunfire, low-flying helicpoters and triggered car alarms, leading some to speculate that the military was training for urban warfare.
Also from Wednesday into Thursday, military exercises were conducted in the Irvine area, and residents reported being kept awake by the noise.
