An apartment fire Sunday morning on the 2600 block of Fayette Drive in Mountain View left nine residents displaced, authorities said.

The Mountain View Fire Department received a call to the fire at 11:33 a.m., according to Robert Maitland, public information officer. Firefighters arrived at 11:40 a.m. and had knocked down the fire by 11:58 a.m.
Police evacuated residents before firefighters arrived, according to a press release. There were no reported injuries in the fire, and the Red Cross was called in to help the nine displaced residents, Maitland said.
Firefighters found the fire on the third floor of the apartment complex, according to the release. Police shut down surrounding streets for three and a half hours while fire crews extinguished the flames.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation but the damage is estimated to be $1 million, Maitland said.
